The Stepfather (1987)
89 min.
Directed by Joseph Ruben.
With Terry O'Quinn, Shelley Hack, Jill Schoelen, Stephen Shellen, Charles Lanyer, Jeff Schulz.
Father Knows Best meets terror cinema in this competent gem that's gained a reputation as a solid thriller since it's release on video.

Nomadic Dad Jerry Blake (Terry O'Quinn) is really searching for the ideal family. But disappointment seems to follow the poor chap with each woman he marries.

So he kills her and her kids.

And then he moves on, changes his identity, and seeks out another unsuspecting wife and daughter.

Never call him a quitter. Tense and thrilling throughout, boasting some decent performances.

Followed by Stepfather II: Make Room for Daddy (1989).
