|This okay Italian thriller comes courtesy of the director of The Bloodstained Butterfly (1971).
The victim of a terrible car accident, poor Peter (Merenda) suffers from an acute case of amnesia and can recall virtually nothing of his past.
But when it appears that 'Peter' may really be a ruthless drug smuggler named Edward and married to lovely Sara (Berger), then danger comes a callin'!
Soon, Sara and Edward must piece their past together pronto...or it could be the final curtain for them both.
A lowkey and well acted effort, you could do much worse than this passable 1974 suspense yarn.
Berger and Merenda are attractive leads and both deliver compelling performances, while eurohorror maven Anita Strindberg pops up in a minor but pivotal supporting role.
And although things start off slowly, Puzzle gains a decent head of steam, making the 'chainsaw finale' well worth the wait.
Also known as Man Without a Memory.
