Halloween III: Season of the Witch (1982)
98 min.
Directed by Tommy Lee Wallace.
With Tom Atkins, Stacey Nelkin, Dan O'Herlihy, Ralph Strait, Jadeen Barbor, Bradley Schachter, Garn Stephens, Maidie Norman.
No Michael Myers. No Jamie Lee Curtis. No dice.

At least that's what many people felt about this third entry in the Halloween franchise. (It was the filmmakers' intention to make a Halloween movie every year with a different theme.)

Completely unrelated to the two previous films, this one was based on a screenplay by Nigel Kneale and tells the tale of a diabolical mask company who schemes to murder children through use of some popular Halloween masks. Turns out if you wear the mask on Halloween, a computer chip inside will cause the mask to make your head explode!

Although there are some nice touches in the first half of Halloween III, it just doesn't work as anything more than a standard early '80s supernatural thriller.

Broad minded horror fans will enjoy this average effort, but Halloween fanatics will no doubt be disappointed.

Followed by Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers in 1988.
