The Collector (1965)
119 min.
Directed by William Wyler.
With Terence Stamp, Samantha Eggar, Mona Washbourne, Maurice Dallimore.
A solid and entirely watchable thriller touching upon themes predating The Silence of the Lambs by more than 25 years.

Taken from the popular John Fowles' novel, this chronicles a butterfly collector (Stamp) who kidnaps beautiful art student Eggar to keep in his "collection."

Ultimately, he wants her to fall in love with him and marry him. His bewildering asexuality, however, would seem to make that an impossibility.

Both Stamp and Eggar are wonderful in this stagy British suspense flick. The ending is utterly modern and caps off the story superbly.
