Cannibal Man (1972)
98 min.
Directed by Eloy De La Iglesia.
With Vicente Parra, Emma Cohen, Eusebio Poncela, Vicky Lagos, Ismael Merlo, Fernando Sanchez Polack, Charlie Bravo, Rafael Hernandez, Goyo Lebrero, Valentin Tornos, Jose Franco.
Vicente Parra plays Marcos, a blue collar fellow who works in a slaughterhouse.

After he and his girlfriend accidentally murder a taxidriver, Marcos strangles his girlfriend to prevent her from going to the police. Then he finds he can't seem to stop murdering.

Of course, there's the problem with what to do with the bodies. So Marcos cuts them up and takes them to work...Suffice it to say we're now vegetarians. The title here is somewhat misleading, but a wonderfully bleak atmosphere is made more so by the fact that Marcos befriends a creepy gay guy kindred spirit, who lives in the apartment complex next to him.

A real treat, with shades of Roman Polanski's Repulsion (1965).
