Visceral, unnerving cannibal horror from director Lenzi.

Three New Yorkers enter the wild Amazon jungle in an effort to disprove once and for all the 'myth' of cannibalism. There, they happen upon two other Americans supposedly on the run from human flesh-eating natives. But before the hapless five can make their way out, they discover all too brutally the real truth about anthropophagy! Only one survives.

Graphic violence from start to finish, with eye popping FX that serve to numb the brain; but the animal abuse is unnecessary and cannot be overlooked. Lead De Selle stands out as one of the few redeeming characters.

Radice (Stage Fright, Cannibal Apocalypse) is deliriously evil as the corrupt Mike, his end both horrifying and strangely justified. From brain eating...to entrail gutting...to castration (instant dinner!)...to hanging by breast hook...Lenzi's cannibal opus is...one of a kind - but ultimately undone by the animal cruelty.
