Really weird!

Pretty entertaining Mexican riff on The Exorcist. Both orphans in a convent, young Alucarda (Romero) and Justine (Kamini) become the best of friends.

But when they stumble upon a strange crypt, Alucarda mistakenly unleashes a satanic spirit which possesses the two girls...and leads them on a bloody path of carnage.

A bizarre and captivating horror, this benefits from some inspired style including a surreal tomb of evil, some moody set designs as well as the ultra creepy nuns (scary in their own right). Romero delivers a strong performance as the demonic Alucarda, especially during the scream-heavy fiery climax.

Best scene though: Justine's death by holy water...she ain't going down alone! Overall, worth a look.

Also known as Sisters of Satan.
